Around the Homestead- Blog

I am finally recovered from my covid and pneumonia and feeling much better!! I’m still getting tired pretty easily but I guess thats to be expected! I had quite the double whammy there and it really wore me down fast. Yesterday I went for a chest xray just to make sure I was clear and my lungs look great so that was a huge relief!

It’s tax season so I’ve been busy organizing all our receipts for the farm and getting everything ready for our accountant. Every year I say I’m going to be more organized, and I am for the most part- I do keep all our regular receipts together in one place, but its all the online purchases that always get me. I need to be better about downloading them once a month or even quarterly, so I have them all in one spot. Going thru all our accounts at once is what gets to me. Its tedious to say the least!

I ordered all my garden seeds last week and I’m itching to get my hands in the dirt and I know I’m still months away. Typically I’ve always just bought all my seeds locally at our box home improvement stores but this year I decided to try something new and ordered my seeds from MI Gardener. Their prices are unbeatable, free shipping and the reviews I have read are absolutely amazing. I do have some seeds I saved from last year, some pumpkins and squashes, but I am excited to try new seeds from them. I even ordered loofa seeds from them. Loofa is fairly hard to grow in our zone 5b, but I plan to start it indoors early, hopefully get it established then harden it off and move it outside. Loofa has a long growing season and needs a LOT of sun and warmth. If it grows well, I’ll be happy, if not, at least it’ll be fun to try!! Here’s the link if you’d like to give MI Gardener a try or even just browse https://migardener.com/
