Well, Happy New Year! It has been a hot minute and a half since I’ve been here to post anything, share anything or really even take a breath it feels like. Life has been throwing us ball after ball to keep in the air to juggle and it feels like I’ve been doing all I can to just keep them going…but right now I’m sick in bed with the dreaded Covid so I’ve got nothing but time on my hands. I guess this is the good Lords way of telling me I HAVE to take a break and slow down. 2 weeks ago I had pneumonia and now this. I feel like my body is rebelling against me! Truth be told though, I need the rest. I’ve been going at a breakneck pace for too hard for too long, burning both ends of the candle, trying to be too many things for too many, and not taking care of myself the way I should.
Winter here has been pretty mild so far, very little snow really and we’ve only had to snowblow the driveway 3 times I think. Our meteorologists on TV say we’re more than 2 feet of snow BELOW average for snowfall right now! That’s crazy to me!!
Our grandkids, who are currently living with us along with our daughter, are growing like weeds! Our granddaughter turned 7 on Christmas day and our grandson will be 4 just after Easter. My days are very full watching my grandson while my daughter is at work and afterschool when my granddaughter gets home. They keep us very active for sure.
We were very pleased with how our little farm stand did this past summer and I am busy planning my gardens for this year and thinking about adding in some flowers as well. Thinking is all I’m doing right now though as I’m not sure just how much time I’ll have to tend to flowers and veggies and kids and animals too. Animals especially because we are adding another goat to our herd, hopefully next weekend. He was supposed to be coming this weekend but with me being sick, we had to put it off. His name is Ringo and he will be joining us to breed our 2 female goats. We’re looking forward to having babies at our little homestead.
My soap and lotion business is doing well. Once we have our new goat babies, it’ll be nice not to have to buy goat milk anymore! Milking goats will definately add another dimension to our lives and just “one more” chore to my already busy days but I’m ok with that. Goat milk can easily be frozen so we can stock the freezer and then dry off our girls if we want to, if it just becomes too much! It’s good to have options!
I hope everyone is staying warm in the crazy artic cold blast, and that those of you who actually do have snow aren’t buried too deep. We had a wonderful holiday season and hope all of you did as well. I’ll be better about updating and I have some new recipes to add very soon. I’d like to be alot better about getting more content on our youTube channel this year but you can always follow us on our Instagram!! I do post there regularly. The link is on the homepage of our site here!!
