Around the Homestead- Blog

May 7, 2025

There is so much going on around here that I feel like I could just burst!!! I don’t even know where to begin! Our baby goats are growing so fast. We sold 2 of our little girls and they are going to their new home this week. One of Maxie’s babys and one of Hazels. They are going together and to someone we know so that makes me so happy. I know they will be well loved and well taken care of. They will have an amazing home.

We have hatched 2 batches of chicks now and have a 3rd round ready to hatch this coming weekend. Today is the day I actually need to take the turners out of the incubator so we should have chicks by Monday at the latest. Be sure to go to our Instagram page or TicTok to see a really cool video of a chick moving around inside the egg!!!

Our farm stand is set for our grand opening May 24th!! We’ll be open Memorial Day weekend 8am-8pm Sat-Mon then we’ll start our regular business hours of being open Thursday-Sunday 8am-8pm. We have so much more this year to offer you! A new building is going up for us this coming week for us to protect our items from the elements. This year we’ll have veggies and eggs of course but also hanging baskets, veggie plants, goat milk soap and lotion, cut flowers and MORE!!! I’m currently in talks with a few people and we might have some yummy goodies for you as well.

As if all that isn’t enough, our new goat barn will be up by the end of the month as well and our meat chicks will be here by the end of the month too! I’m also milking 2 of our 3 momma goats. I am a busy lady…but if I’m not crazy and busy enough, I have decided to go back to work- kinda sorta! LOL!!! I have been volunteering one day a week in our grandson’s pre-K class since the end of September. In Jan I started volunteering in the other Pre-K class at the school. I love it!! I’ve since started volunteering for other lings and I’ve now decided to substitute at the school. I’ve begun the application process. Its the same district (different school) that my husband works for. I’m beyond excited to start another chapter. This will just be a part time thing. The farm needs my full attention, but these kiddo’s have stolen my heart.

Keep enjoying spring! Stay tuned for more from around the Homestead
