Spring is springing! We have had a baby explosion here at Dream Acres Farm. We had 5 kids (baby goats) born within 6 days and we’ve been hatching baby chicks as well. All 3 of our female goats had successful pregnancy’s and gave birth in March. First up was our Dutchess and she gave birth to a very big bouncing baby boy, Apollo on March 14th in the middle of the night. We knew she was really close but I had woken up in the middle of the night , checked our camera in the barn and saw a little baby in the barn. I was so suprised. We went running out to see!! Hazel was up next, on March 16, again in the middle of the night, and gave us twin girls Lassie and Gemini. 2 nights later, on the 18th, Maxie gave us another set of twin girls, Millie and Bluey. All our babies were born in the middle of the night, leaving us bleary eyed and exhausted but aside from Dutchess, we were there for both sets of twins’ births. It was very exciting for us to experience and be there for our momma’s. Everyone is thriving and growing fast. We will be keeping Apollo, Bluey and Gemini and we have already sold Millie and Lassie to an amazing home. They will be loved and very well cared for. They aren’t leaving us until mid-May though, once they are weaned off their momma’s. Staying with their momma’s until then gives them the best start possible.

We have also been hatching chicks, and the grandkids have found it fascinating. We’ve also sold a few dozen hatching eggs to others. Our girls are working overtime laying eggs and we are so thankful for their production. We’ll be selling day-old chicks soon. We already have a few orders to fill before we have more available.

In other exciting news- as if thats not enough- we’re getting ready to build a new goat barn at the end of April. We’re putting up a 24×40 barn just for our goats and then expanding our chicken business even more than it is now, at least doubling the number of chickens we have, maybe even a bit more.

We also have 35 meat chickens coming this spring. They will be ready to butcher in August. We are raising a new kind for us this year. Typically we do cornish cross but we’re trying a breed called Jackie’s this year. They are more of a pasture meat bird, they like to free range rather than just sit and eat like corning crosses do. If you’re interest, get on our list NOW because we already have some sold and we don’t even have the birds delivered yet. I’m not sure if I can order more.

We have new soaps to offer, new scents coming soon and big things that are going to be happening with our farmstand!! Stay tuned!
