Oobleck
My grandkids LOVE oobleck. Its so easy to make, just 2 ingredients, and gives them hours of fun. I mean, whats more fun that this Newtonian fluid that’s a sometimes solid and sometimes liquid.
Just cornstach and water, oobleck is the way it is because of the pressure of the cornstarch particles pushing against the water when you exert force against it. If your pushing it, rolling it into a ball etc, it feels lik a solid, but as soon as you let go, it reacts like a liquid and seeps thru your fingers. Remember it can be a bit messy but oh so fun.
Mix 2 cups of cornstarch with 1 cup water. Mix well. If you’d like your oobleck colored, add gel food coloring to the water before you add it to the cornstarch. That’s it. Clean up when done with soap and water. We have had a bit of success storing overnight in an airtight container and adding a touch more water but this really is a 1 time project. Play then toss.
